Brand kit

Make it look like Hacktoberfest.

The colors, type, and logos for anything you make for Hacktoberfest 2026, whether that is a poster for your Fest or a slide for your sponsors. Everything here is free to use for Hacktoberfest events and coverage.

Colors

Forest first, then the accents.

Forest green is the ground everything sits on, with deep forest beneath it. Ink is for text and paper is the light background. The four accents are for emphasis, a little at a time; the hero squares on this site use all four at once, and that is about the limit.

  • The primary. Backgrounds, the green logo, anything that has to say Hacktoberfest at a glance.

  • The darker green under forest. Page edges, shadows on green, and depth without reaching for ink.

  • Text on light grounds, and the black logo files.

  • The light ground. Warmer than white, so pure white still reads as a highlight on it.

  • The accent that goes on forest: this site’s headings use it for the highlighted half.

  • Warm accent. Labels, badges, small blocks of colour.

  • The button colour, and the one to reach for when something needs a nudge.

  • The loud one. Use it sparingly and never for body text.

  • The shadow under the buttons, and a colour for outlines. Too dark to fill an area with.

Fonts

Three families, all free.

Every typeface is a Google Font under the Open Font License, so it can be installed, embedded, and used commercially with no paperwork. Load them from Google Fonts or download the files from the family page.

Logos

Three marks, three colorways.

Every logo comes in ink, white, and forest green. Green is the one to reach for; ink is for print and light grounds, white for photos and dark grounds. All files are SVG, so they scale to any size without losing quality.

Hacktoberfest 2026

The main logo. Use it wherever there is width for it: banners, slides, headers, the top of a poster.

HF26 lockup

The short form. For square-ish spaces, stickers, and anywhere the full name is already nearby.

HF mark

The icon. Avatars, favicons, app tiles, and anything under about 40 pixels wide.

Partners

Powered by MLH and DEV.

Hacktoberfest 2026 is run by MLH with DEV. When their logos sit next to the Hacktoberfest one, on a Fest poster or a sponsor slide, use the official files below exactly as they are and follow each brand’s own guidelines for clear space and placement.

MLH logo

Color where you can, black or white where you cannot, grayscale for print in one ink. MLH brand guidelines

DEV logo

Write it DEV or dev.to, never DEV.to or Dev.to. The badge is the square; the rectangular version is only for when space is tight. DEV brand guidelines

Using them

What the brand is for.

The Hacktoberfest graphics are for promoting Fests, projects, and posts that are part of Hacktoberfest. They may not go on merchandise or anything for sale, and they do not signal endorsement. Use of the brand is at the Hacktoberfest team’s discretion: if a use is not in the spirit of the event, we may ask you to stop.

Do

  • Use the logos and colours in any digital promotional graphic for your Fest, project, or post.
  • Use the brand assets as provided here, in the three colorways they come in.
  • Give a logo clear space on every side of at least the height of the H.
  • Write the name as Hacktoberfest, one word, capital H. The year is 2026.
  • Credit the partners where you can: powered by MLH and DEV, presented by DigitalOcean. Tag them when you post.
  • Open source your designs so others can build on them.

Don’t

  • Make physical merchandise, such as t-shirts, with the Hacktoberfest design.
  • Sell anything that carries the Hacktoberfest graphics.
  • Modify the logos: no stretching, rotating, outlining, recolouring outside the three colorways, or adding effects.
  • Use the brand to promote events unrelated to Hacktoberfest.
  • Change the name itself: not Hacktober, not Hacktober Fest.
  • Use the logo to suggest official endorsement, such as on certificates.
  • Recolour a partner or sponsor logo to match this palette. Their marks keep their own colours.
